Description
Yes, a MOST original title, I agree...
This was a birthday present for a friend of mine, a great fan of Aragorn (mainly, the movie-Aragorn ^^). When I searched for inspiration for thi picture, I got pretty frustrated with all the manly-man and action-packed pics I found. I wanted to bring out a more gentle side of this character. I wanted something peaceful and quiet.
This was supposed to be a night-time picture, with Aragorn being bathed with moonlight or camp-fire-light. But since I used charcoal as my medium, this would've ended in quite a mess, so I gave up that idea, and just drew some kind of dark strokes as a symbolic background, to bring some contrast to the composition.
As usual, the hand is RUINED. XD I redid it four times, and finally gave up (before tearing the whole damn thing to pieces with frustration ). I really need to take drawing lessons for those hands...
Oh, and that verse is taken from the Book, of course. It's the one closing Gandalf's letter to Frodo, in which he told the young Hobbit about Strider.
Medium: charcoal
Date: Spring 2005
